December 2013

The Tree

This year we followed Emily and Joe's advise and went to a tree farm that had a horse drawn sled. We picked out our tree on one side of the mountain and then went down to the other side of the mountain to take a ride in the sled.

The Mebane Christmas Parade

Mebane is the only town around us that has a Christmas Parade at night. Adam and Jackson's scout troop had a float that they created and rode on. I think they were pretty creative with the decorations. I can't remember why Sarah and I didn't go. It doesn't look like it was too cold. It seems like we had something else to do that night.

Being Silly

Sarah found a new dress in the Christmas decorations.

We never know what we are going to find when we kiss Adam before going to bed ourselves at night.

Miss Kim's Nutcracker

Sarah was very excited to be in Miss Kim's Nutcracker this year. She danced her little heart out. A huge difference from last year.

This is Sarah's friend, Addie Grace. She went to daycare with Sarah and Sarah really missed her when she left to go to BCA.

Miss Lilly, Sarah's favorite helper.

Visiting Santa Claus

Sarah was still very timid of Santa. This one was great! He had her turned around looking at me, scooped her up next to Jackson and they snapped the picture. In the end, Sarah told her she wanted a Minnie Cheerleader for Christmas.

Christmas with the Faircloth's

We decided to do something a little different this year. We met at a pretty snazzy bowling alley and bowled a few games. The kids also played in the arcade a little. Then we went to Homestead Restaurant in Roxboro for dinner.

A silly picture to end the evening.

Natalie's Birthday

The next day we went to Aunt Jamie's and Uncle Roger's house for lunch to celebrate Natalie's birthday.

 The birthday girl is 30!!!

DARE Graduation

The fifth graders participate in a program sponsored by the Burlington Police Department called DARE. They educate students on how to stay away from peer pressure and drugs. Jackson wrote an essay on how he was going to stay away from drugs and graduated from the program.

Christmas Fun!

We made sugar cookies and then decorated them. Jackson kept on decorating as many as he could! I think he found a new hobby!

We went to the new aquarium at the Greensboro Natural Science Center. They have all kids of fish, penguins, and sharks!

Adam wasn't too thrilled to be standing in front of the tiger. This was the closest I've ever seen them come to the glass!

Sarah is trying on her new Ariel costume from Grandma and Papa Jack. She loves to play dress up.

Christmas Eve

This year we decided to bump up Christmas so that we could spend the "real" Christmas morning at our house. We were all ready to head to Gramma's house on Christmas Eve Eve when Adam decided he needed to visit the pediatrician first!
I can't even remember what he hit his head on, but it looked like he poked a hole in his forehead. He did it the night before right before bed. When he got up the next morning, it was still bleeding so we decided that we should let a doctor look at it. Sure enough she stitched it up for him. He was a trooper and did great! (Or at least I don't remember anything traumatic.)

They all cooperated in pictures earlier in the day. We got them bathed and dressed in their matching pajamas for a group picture. Ivey did not want to participate. We tried and tried to get her to cooperate. This was the best we could do.

Christmas Morning at Home

Our elf, Fred or Fruity (Sarah renamed him somewhere along the way.) took the kids presents from their stockings and his them all over the house leaving clues. Sarah didn't quite get it but Adam and Jackson had a blast looking for the presents.

I believe it was a Merry Christmas for all!

The most fun is had playing in the boxes that the Christmas gifts came in!
