Pinewood Derby

Jackson's Cub Scout Pack had its annual Pinewood Derby yesterday. He and Kevin made a truck to race. It was all very sophisticated. They weighed the cars and then entered them into the computer. The track was all computerized where it was able to detect how fast each car went. Jackson's truck ran about 5 heats and came in first, second, and third places. He didn't win overall but he and Kevin have some ideas on how to design their car for next year.

Here are all the cars that raced. Jackson's truck is green on the second row.

Sarah watching everything but the cars. She loves to "people watch".

Delicious

Adam's new favorite word is "delicious". He was eating a sucker one night this week and told Kevin that it was delicious. I got it on video and ever since everything is delicious!

SNOW DAY! (after Snow Day after Snow Day...)

They were forecasting 6-10 inches of snow for us last Friday night/Saturday. We pretty much knew that we would be stuck at home for several days, so we planned to go out to eat and then make a Target run on Friday night. It wasn't supposed to start snowing until around 9 or 10 that night so I figured that we had plenty of time to mess around Friday night. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:00. As soon as we got out of the car it started snowing. We went to eat and came out around 7:00. Snow covered the ground and all the cars. Thank goodness it wasn't sticking to the roads yet! Adam was impressed by all the snow. He saw my car and said "Look! Snowmans on Mommy's car!" He couldn't believe all the snowmans falling from the sky. We tried and tried to explain that they were flakes and not men but he just didn't get it. Just the other day he said all disappointedly, "Aww. Snowmans all gone."
We did end up getting about 6 1/2 inches of snow and then some sleet and ice on top of that. It snowed all day Saturday and the temps were very low. The boys finally got to go out on Sunday afternoon. Sarah had to stay in because she ended up with a runny nose. (Between the three of them I feel like I am constantly wiping snotty noses.) They closed school completely on Monday and then had teacher workdays the rest of the week. Jackson and I finally got to go back to school on a delay on Thursday but then we had another day off on Friday because of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Will this week be a normal week?

Adam is into changing clothes. He puts on his pajamas every chance he gets. He also seems to think that every time he changes his clothes he needs to pick out a new pair of underwear. (I've since moved them to a top shelf in his closet.) He took his warm, fleece pajamas off to put on his Mickey Mouse ones. He then proceeded to complain about being cold. Well, he fixed that by curling up in the chair with a blanket.

Adam could barely walk in his boots in the house much less in the snow. I think he fell with almost every step.

I've fallen and I can't get up!

Kevin and the boys built a snow fort. It looks cozy in there, I guess...

Peeking out of the fort.

First Taste of Food

Sarah ate some cereal for the first time this week. She not quite sure what to do with the mushy stuff that gets put into her mouth. Most of it ends up on her bib but she is getting better about it everyday.

Sitting in the big high chair before my first bite.

What is this stuff you put in my mouth? I know I have a picture of Jackson with this same look on his face- probably Adam, too.

Four Months Old

Sarah is now four months old. She weighed 16 pounds, 6 ounces at her checkup, and she is 25 1/2 inches long. The doctor said that she was doing fine. She handled the shots like a pro this time. She barely flinched with the first one and just sqeaked a little with the second one. She did make up for all of that though. She was very fussy and didn't sleep good that night.

I'm a big girl sitting in my Exersaucer. I can see everyone and everything!

I love my new toys- especially the ones that spin.

Quick Winter Getaway

The Faircloth's decided to take a last minute trip to Myrtle Beach over the Martin Luther King weekend. We all stayed in a condo on the 15th floor with a beautiful view. The weather surprised us. It was supposed to rain two of the days we were there but ended up only being rainy for half of each of those two days so we got some time out on the beach. Of course, the day we left was the warmest and the prettiest. Why does that always happen? The condo had an indoor pool with a lazy river where the boys spent a lot of their time. And then what is a trip to Myrtle Beach without going to the outlets for some shopping? Poor Kevin didn't have such a grand of a time. He ended up getting the stomach bug that Jackson and Adam had had the previous week. So instead of swimming and walking on the beach he spent Sunday in bed.

Sarah's first "walk" on the beach.

What is it Adam?

Jackson found a shell.

I'm ready for the pool!

Our view in the morning when we woke up. Yes, we are at the beach. That is the ocean. I have never in my entire life ever seen the ocean that calm. Jackson wanted to know where the boats were. I think he thought we were at the lake!
Don't worry a big storm came through that night and stirred the ocean "back to normal".

And our view at sunset that night.

Lazy Saturday

We didn't have anything to do on this particular Saturday in January so we all had a lazy day. Little did we know, we would have two sick boys the next day and into the next week.

Sarah loves to lay on her quilt. She usually turns and either watches us or whatever is on TV.

Adam is snuggled up under the "blue blanket". When he finally emerged we found a multitude of stuffed animals hiding in there with him.
