Read to Me Please

I was holding Sarah, and Adam decided that he wanted me to read him a book. He climbed right up into my lap pushing Sarah over only slightly. She seems quite interested- more so than our "ham it up for the camera" boys.

Another Trip Around the Sun

My birthday was yesterday. After we all finished eating some cake, Jackson went and found some left over party hats from one of his birthdays. So we all donned the hats while Adam sang another round of "Happy Birthday".

This is about the fifth picture Kevin took of the four of us. There isn't a single picture where everyone is looking at the camera. I figured that I would post a picture where at least the majority of us are looking the right way!

Five Months Old

Sarah turned five months old last Sunday, but it wasn't until yesterday that I finally got a picture of her. She's been feeling a little under the weather for the past two weeks and therefore, didn't want to cooperate for a five month photo. She had a runny nose that bugged the mess out of her for a week and then she started sounding horrible when she breathed and had a terrible cough. I thought... "Great! Another kid with asthma." I took her to the doctor, and he diagnosed her with RSV and a double ear infection. Poor thing- no wonder she was so fussy. After a week and a half she seems to be all better and all smiles, too.

Oh- she was 17 pounds, 12 ounces at the doctor but I'm sure she's lost some of that due to not eating well for a week. We had to take a break from the cereal. She is having to start all over getting introduced to solid food again. So far, she has tried carrots, squash, and bananas. The first bite always gets an interesting grimace, but then she gobbles the rest right down.

All Dressed Up and No Where to Go!

Adam and Sarah stay with a former colleague of mine during the day. Jackson joins them after school. She has a little girl a little less than a year older than Adam. They play together very well. Here, Ivy has convinced Adam to dress up with her. I was told that Adam couldn't get very far in the high-heeled Tinker Bell shoes. Thank goodness! He probably would have wanted to wear them home!

Pinewood Derby

Jackson's Cub Scout Pack had its annual Pinewood Derby yesterday. He and Kevin made a truck to race. It was all very sophisticated. They weighed the cars and then entered them into the computer. The track was all computerized where it was able to detect how fast each car went. Jackson's truck ran about 5 heats and came in first, second, and third places. He didn't win overall but he and Kevin have some ideas on how to design their car for next year.

Here are all the cars that raced. Jackson's truck is green on the second row.

Sarah watching everything but the cars. She loves to "people watch".

Delicious

Adam's new favorite word is "delicious". He was eating a sucker one night this week and told Kevin that it was delicious. I got it on video and ever since everything is delicious!

SNOW DAY! (after Snow Day after Snow Day...)

They were forecasting 6-10 inches of snow for us last Friday night/Saturday. We pretty much knew that we would be stuck at home for several days, so we planned to go out to eat and then make a Target run on Friday night. It wasn't supposed to start snowing until around 9 or 10 that night so I figured that we had plenty of time to mess around Friday night. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:00. As soon as we got out of the car it started snowing. We went to eat and came out around 7:00. Snow covered the ground and all the cars. Thank goodness it wasn't sticking to the roads yet! Adam was impressed by all the snow. He saw my car and said "Look! Snowmans on Mommy's car!" He couldn't believe all the snowmans falling from the sky. We tried and tried to explain that they were flakes and not men but he just didn't get it. Just the other day he said all disappointedly, "Aww. Snowmans all gone."
We did end up getting about 6 1/2 inches of snow and then some sleet and ice on top of that. It snowed all day Saturday and the temps were very low. The boys finally got to go out on Sunday afternoon. Sarah had to stay in because she ended up with a runny nose. (Between the three of them I feel like I am constantly wiping snotty noses.) They closed school completely on Monday and then had teacher workdays the rest of the week. Jackson and I finally got to go back to school on a delay on Thursday but then we had another day off on Friday because of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Will this week be a normal week?

Adam is into changing clothes. He puts on his pajamas every chance he gets. He also seems to think that every time he changes his clothes he needs to pick out a new pair of underwear. (I've since moved them to a top shelf in his closet.) He took his warm, fleece pajamas off to put on his Mickey Mouse ones. He then proceeded to complain about being cold. Well, he fixed that by curling up in the chair with a blanket.

Adam could barely walk in his boots in the house much less in the snow. I think he fell with almost every step.

I've fallen and I can't get up!

Kevin and the boys built a snow fort. It looks cozy in there, I guess...
