Kindergarten Reflections

Every year the kindergarteners perform songs about what they've learned throughout the year. This year it was on the Friday before Mother's Day. Adam's teacher had a Mother's Day reception back in the classroom after the performance.

Kevin's favorite song that they sang was "I Love School" because they sang it with as little enthusiasm as possible!

School Talent Show

Our school had a talent show and asked the kindergarteners to sing a few of their songs before the show. I was shocked at how loud Adam was singing because he has hardly sung out at any of his other performances. Check out the video.

Jackson's (10) and Adam's (6) Birthday Celebrations

Jackson and Adam chose to go to Celebration Station to celebrate with their friends. After playing Putt-Putt, riding the go carts, and playing video games, we stopped at Chick-fil-a for dinner.

The next day we all met at LaCocina for lunch and then headed back to our house for ice cream sundaes. We were all impressed at how many black beans Ivey ate!

Sarah had to sport the birthday hat, too!

Sarah decided to have a tea party with the left over party supplies.

Sarah's Dance Recital

Gramma, Granddad, Aunt Jamie, Natalie, and Aunt Jean came to watch Sarah perform as a mouse in "The Tiny Seed".

Sarah got dressed at my school and posed for the camera.

Here is a video of her performance.

Sarah loved the flowers she got at the end of the show.

Awards Program

Jackson received an award for participating in orchestra this year.

Cruisin'

Mom and Daddy graciously took care of the kids so that Kevin and I could celebrate our 15 year anniversary in style. We went on a four night cruise with Royal Caribbean Cruiselines. We stopped in Cozumel, Mexico for a day where we spent the day at a resort sunning, swimming, snorkeling, and sipping. The lunch we had there was delicious- maybe even better than on the ship.

We spent the day before we were supposed to get on the ship on an island north of Tampa. There were several dolphins playing in the water.

Waiting for the ship to launch. We left on a rainy Thursday with some thunderstorms. No worries. The rain stopped before we left the dock but the clouds stayed around. It all cleared up about noon on Friday and turned out to be beautiful the rest of the time.

Our room attendant left surprises everyday.

Sitting on our private deck watching Cozumel come into view.

The beach in Cozumel.

Kevin went snorkeling and I rode along in the boat.

Heading back to the ship after a day of fun in the sun.

Another surprise from our room attendant.

Playing Putt-Putt on the top level of the ship. It was very windy.

 Too many s'mores for Adam?

Another Season of Soccer

Easter

Sarah had an Easter egg hunt at her day care. It looks like it was a chilly hunt.

Our church had some games, face painting and an egg hunt. All of the festivities had to be moved inside due to some rain.

Adam and Jackson sitting and listening to the rules of the hunt.

Sarah found an egg! The boys ran off to a different part of the church. Sarah and I had to go on an Adam and Jackson hunt once she was done.

Pinewood Derby

Jackson's yellow and green striped car.

Looks like Jackson tied for first in this race.

 Reptile Day

A park near us in Efland had reptile day. Kevin took the boys. They learned all about snakes, turtles and other creepy crawlie things.

Field Trip to Raleigh

Jackson's fourth grade class went to Raleigh. Kevin was able to meet us there and chaperone, too. Here are Jalen, Jackson, and Jackson sitting in a canoe made by the Native Americans from a tree log.

Costume Day

Sarah and her dance friend trying on their costumes for the upcoming recital. They are going to  be mice in "The Tiny Seed".

An Artist at Work

I think it is a cat- or at least that's what Sarah says.

January 2013

Miss Kim's Nutcracker

Miss Kim has a Nutcracker performance for the parents every Christmas. This year she had to reschedule it to January due to her whole family getting the flu. Sarah spent most of the performance in mine or Gramma's lap. I'm not sure what was going on with her. She did let me get a picture of her with one of the "princesses".

Monster Jam

Kevin took the boys to the Monster Jam again this year. They got to spend some time in the "Pit" checking out all the Monster Trucks before the show.

Adam's Tragedy

During the winter break from travel soccer, Jackson wanted to play a little indoor soccer. We all went to watch him one Sunday afternoon at the Mebane Recreation Center gym. There is a playground right outside the gym. The kids wanted to play. I said it was getting dark and Kevin said, "Why not. They can play for a few minutes." And a few minutes was all it took. The three of them along with their two buddies, Will and Matthew, were climbing and sliding. Then we heard it. The screaming. Adam had somehow slipped at the top of slide and hit his mouth on the metal platform. Blood everywhere- Ugh! Now what to do- emergency room? wait until morning? My friend, Suzy, went back in to see if she could find a doctor or dentist. She found a fireman. He said his daughter had done something similar and it would be OK to wait until the morning. I didn't feel like spending hours in the ER anyway.

We were sent to a pediatric dentist in High Point. They were phenomenal and Adam was a trooper. Unfortunately it was recommended that they pull two teeth. We had to back the next day for that. Here is Adam's last picture with his two front teeth

And the after picture. No more front teeth. I thought they were pulling one of his front teeth and the one beside that one, so when he came out of the dentist office with no front teeth I was a bit shocked! Oh, well, he will just be a snaggle tooth a bit longer than usual.
